Paper wins 2009 Greg Herrington Award
Five researchers at the CATT Lab have received the Greg Herrington Award from the National Academy of Sciences Transportation Research Board (TRB) for Excellence in Visualization Research for their paper entitled, “Visual Analytics for Transportation Incident Datasets.”  The award is in honor of the late Mr. Greg Herrington—a pioneer in the exploration and application of 3D visualization technologies to transportation planning and design. It honors his memory by recognizing outstanding research in the field of visualization as applied to challenges and opportunities for improving transportation.  Read more... 

CATT Lab employees win Games for Health Game Jam

A seven member team including CATT Laboratory employees Phillip Weisberg, Jenny Lees, and Mike Couture were named the winners of the first ever Games for Health Game Jam held at the University of Baltimore.  Their team, which also included students from the University of Baltimore, competed against six other teams of professional game developers, professors, and students.  Read more...

CATT Lab students among 2008 Graduate Research Interaction Day winners

Graduate research assistants Michael VanDaniker and Darya Filippova were among the 2008 UMD GRID award winners. They presented their individual research in poster sessions, gave 5-7 minute long presentations, and were judged by a committee of inter-disciplinary faculty at the 2008 Graduate Research Interaction Day exhibition/competition.  Michael VanDaniker's research entitled "Real-time and Historic Incident Visualization Using Timelines" came in 1st place, and Darya Filippova's research entitled "Accident Analysis Data Mining and Visualization Tool" came in 3rd place in the "Smart Computers" category.



Virtual Incident Management Training Software
The CATT Lab is teaming up with the I-95 Corridor Coalition and Forterra Systems, Inc. to develop a massively multi-player virtual incident management training system for transportation first responders.


(RITIS) Regional Integrated Transportation Information System project
